Teaching and learning story

Media is one of the cross-curricular topics. The present study material is focusing on teaching vocabulary connected with media, practising reading and listening skills, expressing one's personal opinion on the future of printed media and writing a newspaper article.

The material is composed for students in forms 10-12 and is suitable to use with any textbook.

After acquiring the present study material, the students -

• are able to understand the overall meaning of the audio lecture;
• are able to find specific information in the audio text;
• are able to understand and interpret the information they read;
• are able to read a concept map;
• are able to find necessary information on the internet and in the encyclopedia entry;
• have enriched their vocabulary connected with media, newspapers and Headline English;
• are aware of the differences of text and layout of broadsheets and tabloids;
• are able to write an article for a broadsheet or a tabloid;
• are able to work in team;
• are able to use online audio forum.
• can discuss topics connected with the future of newspapers.
