Description of the lesson:

This lesson is a cross-curricular lesson for English and Social Science. It teaches about Minorities in Europe.

For my students this was a very interesting topic, because they hadn´t known much about them before. The lesson is made in the form of a webqest.

At the beginning of the lesson, as a warm-up exercise, I asked the students to discuss in groups their opinions on minorities in the Czech Republic and on their problems and prospectives. The discussion was very lively becuase this topis is very hot in our country and everybody seems to have an opinion on this. Then I elicited the ideas and tried to compare them.

Then the students went into the the webpage, read the information given there and did the quizes and gapfilles to see how much they remembered.

In the end of the lesson I asked them if they had learned anything new. Most of them did or changed some of their previous views.

In ma opinion, this LO is very useful for students living in Europe which now, at the time of losing borders, is full or migrants, and thus minorities.
