Discussion about Embedding external content to LeMill

Here you can discuss about Embedding external content to LeMill .

What about content in the Wikimedia Commons - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page ? Can one embed it?

Unfortunately Wikimedia Commons does not provide embed code that can be copied form their site and pasted to LeMill. So only userfriendly solution is to save the media piece from Wikimedia Commons to your computer and upload it to LeMill as a media piece.

One of the reasons why we *embed* content from Youtube and other sites is related to copyright. Embedding is not copying - the content remains in Youtube. Therefore we can embed resources that are under traditional "all rights reserved" copyright.

One possible improvement that we need is a small notice next to embedded resources (e.g. "This video is embedded from Youtube. All rights reserved"). Then it is clear that the embedded part of the page is not under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license.

With Wikimedia Commons we do not have these copyright issues. Media pieces can be uploaded to LeMill and this way they are searchable for other LeMill users.
