Aims of the study according to the subjects

To realize that the Earth, the Sun and the Moon are ball-shaped objects; to be able to compare the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon according to their sized.

To develop logical end analytical thinking skills for solving the problem; to be able to use the obtained knowledge and skills. To be able to use the means of relations with ICT simply.

Achievable results/ indicators defined by the national curriculum

Science:

I-3. Pupil describes the similarities and differences between the objects (events);

I-5. Pupil characterizes phenomenon connected to interchange of day and night, recognizes the Sun, the Moon, the stars on illustrations, defines the time of the Sun appearance.

Mathematics:

I-1. Pupil matches numbers, numerals and quantities;

I-3. Pupil matches affection and subtraction arithmetic rules and connection among numbers;

I-5. Pupil spreads presents and compares periodical arrangement of objects;

I-7. Pupil expresses flat geometrical figures and finds out location of the objects.

Informational- communicational technologies:

Pupil uses equipments of ICT interaction;

Uses input (mouse, keyboard) and output equipment (1);

Uses existed resources appropriate for this age-group in Internet (educational programs, games, pictures, etc.) during the study.

Sequence

Lesson One: Science (35Min)

Activity I _ Warming. (5min).

I greet the grade end put a question: Where would you travel if you had a magic rug?

I give pupils a toy microphone. Children answer questions as an interview.

Activity II_ work on textbook.(3min.)

On the page of the textbook there is a picture describing children in the space ship and travelling in the space. I ask pupils:

Whats the shape of the Earth? The Sun? The Moon?

Is the Earth bigger than the Moon?

Is the Sun bigger than the Earth?

Do you think the stars are really so small?

Activity III_ Provocation. Educational computer game (15min)

I direct pupils to sit at the computers and find the special window for the game Save the Earth . The game is a simulation. The Earth goes round the Sun. The Moon goes round the Earth. The player controls the space ship with a keyboard. Asteroids appear on the screen which must be destroyed by the rockets shot from the space-ship. If the asteroids crash the earth the game starts from the beginning. The player saves the points according to the destroyed asteroids. The winner is who has the most points.

I consult pupils to look at the objects on the screen carefully during the game.

Activity IV_ Discussion (5min).

I ask pupils:

Who has the most points?

What do the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon look like in the game?

What you noticed you didnt know before?

Which of them gives us the light?

Why is the Moon lighted?

Why is the Earth lighted?

When is a day or a night on the Earth?

Besides the light what does the Sun give the Earth?

Pupils answer my questions judge and make conclusions according to these questions.

Activity V: Myth about Helios, presentation (7min).

I address to pupils:

Today we will be visited by an unusual guest whose name is Helios. In order to get known him well I will read an amazing story.

It was in Greece long ago when the gods live with people.

Far in the East at the edge of the sky, in the Ocean there was a gold palace of Helios. Every morning Helios woke up with cock-a-doodle-doo. Helios was wonderful. His long gold clothes and a gold crown gave such light that everything was lighted up. Every day Helios sat in his gold cab with four fire-spitting white horses. The gate of the palace opened itself and Helios could start his travelling.

Helioss cab was going upper on the heavenly slope giving the light the warmth to the Earth. Having reached the middle of the sky he would go down slowly to the west, to the Ocean. Here there was his second palace where his flying horses could rest and eat grass. Helios could sit in the gold boat and come back to his gold palace.

In the morning he again gave joy to everybody. He gave people the warmth, the light and the happiness. Helios watched on gods and peoples behavior from the sky. Each evil was blinded. People put a statue to Helios_ Rodeos Kolas. It was one of the oldest wonder. It was 40 meters height. Unfortunately the statue was destroyed during the earthquake.

Simultaneously we show pupils the presentation materials about Helios.

Musical break: I address the pupils that Helios will like the song Odelia dela by I. Gurgulia. Pupils remind the song learnt during the music lesson and sing the song.

The second lesson: Mathematics.

I start The second lesson with creating the problem situation. I tell students:

Helios decided to travel by his magic cab out of the Earth in Cosmos.

Who wants to travel with Helios?

We mast do his exercises in order to take us to travel.

Activity VI_ The cycle of class math exercises which are done in groups.

I divide the pupils into several groups. They choose different colors of stars end then sit at the proper tables. There are the following groups: red, yellow, green and blue stars. I draw the Suns on the black-board which doesnt have the rays. After doing each exercise with success, the rays will be stick to the proper sun of the group. At the end of the lesson the group which will have the most rays will be the winner(3min).

Exercise 1 . ( 3min+2min discussion)

Do the equalities according to these pictures.

Pupils have to do the sums (two plus and two minus the proper pictures).

Exercise 2. ( 3min+2min discussion).

Guess Helios favorite word!

Pupils write the letters below the suitable result.

This word is light.

Exercise 3 . ( 3min+2min discussion).

Put the numbers according to the subsidence, mark every two digit number, from these numbers you should plus the least simple number to the minor two digit number.

7, 16, 3, 9, 8, 11, 13, 19, 4, 15.

Exercise 4 . ( 3min+2min discussion).

The Moon is smaller than the Earth, but the Earth is smaller than the Sun. Which is the bigger? Name the proper circle.

Activity VII _ Presentation The Sun, the Moon and the Earth (2 min)

After doing these exercises Ill tell my students that we have prepared the presentation for them to see the Sun, the Moon, the Earth in the better way.

Ill show them presentation with the projector where they can see each Celestial body clearly.

Activity VII _ Virtual travelling in Cosmos (4min).

I tell my students that they have done Helios exercises successfully. Then well show them a video film Travelling in Cosmos from internet. After watching the film the students guess that besides the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth there are other cosmic bodies and the universe is endlessly large.

Reflection: Strategy 3, 2, 1 (3min). Metacognation.

I tell my students to name 3 things which you have remembered from this lesson.

2 things which you have interested in and liked.

1 thing you want to know more about.

Grading

The lesson is finishing and I ask my students:

How do you like this lesson?

Why was this lesson interesting?

Which groups Sun had the most rays?

Who was the most active student?

I use Holistic grading scheme with the developing commentary.

At the end of the lesson each student takes the letter from Helios, where the commentary is developing. According to the grading there are 3 kinds of cards.

At last I give them the home task. The students must draw the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth in Cosmos.

The duration of the lesson: 2 lessons 35min.+35min.

Helios cards, stars made from colored papers, Xerox.
