Dictation activity for pairwork

ACTIVITY: Pairwork: speaking, writing, mutual dictation AIM: To dictate part of a story and to write down what your partner dictates to you. PREPARATION: Make one copy of a story consisting of 2 sections with gaps in it. Cut out the sections. PROCEDURE: 1. Tell the students they are going to read a story. Point out that there is some information missing from the text you are going to give them. 2. Give one copy of text A to Student A and one copy of text B to Student B. Tell them not to show his/her part of ther story to his/her partner. Explain that each of the partners has the part of the story which is missing from his/her version. 3. Ask the students to take it in turns to dictate lines of the story and to write them down. 4. When they have finished, ask them to compare compelted texts which should be identical. |
