Writing learning diaries

by Tarmo Toikkanen , Teemu Leinonen — last modified 2010-03-14 18:53

Writing learning diaries is useful in many ways. The learner writes down what has been learned, reactions to information presented on a course, insights, difficult issues, and questions. The diary can be continuous, or limited to a course or a project. Learning diaries help the learner to conceptialize his/her thoughts and to relate them to each other. They also help develop self-evaluation skills (ie. metacognition), because the learner can follow the development of his/her own thinking from the diary.
